La réponse d'extension proboscis ou PER est un test de comportement goût qui a été utilisé dans mouches ainsi que chez les abeilles. Lorsque la trompe est en contact avec une substance attractive, la mouche étend sa trompe de consommer la substance. Solutions de différents sucres sont très attrayants pour la volée.
