Tradisjonelle fototrombotiske slagmodeller (PTS) induserer hovedsakelig tette blodplateaggregater med høy motstand mot vevsplasminogenaktivator (tPA)-lytisk behandling. Her introduseres en modifisert murine PTS-modell ved samtidig injeksjon av trombin og lysfølsomt fargestoff for fotoaktivering. Den trombinforsterkede PTS-modellen produserer blandet blodplate: fibrinpropper og er svært følsom for tPA-trombolyse.
