La fermeture d’un foramen ovale perméable (FOP) est une intervention à l’aide d’un cathéter pour prévenir les accidents vasculaires cérébraux associés au FOP. Le dispositif d’occlusion PFO est avancé dans la veine fémorale et déployé à travers le septum interauriculaire à l’aide d’une échocardiographie transœsophagienne (TEE) et d’un guidage fluoroscopique.
