Dit veelzijdige protocol beschrijft de isolatie van premigratory neural crest cells (NCC's) door de excisie van craniale neurale plooien van kuikenembryo's. Bij plating en incubatie komen migrerende NCC's tevoorschijn uit neurale vouwexplantaten, waardoor celmorfologie en migratie in een vereenvoudigde 2D-omgeving kunnen worden beoordeeld.
