Aladdin Hassanein, MD, MMSc Department of Surgery Indiana University School of Medicine Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles Aladdin Hassanein, MD, MMSc Al Hassanein is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Indiana University. He is a plastic surgeon who specializes in cancer and lymphedema microsurgical reconstruction. Dr. Hassanein trained in plastic surgery at Harvard and completed a clinical microsurgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins. He went to medical school at the University of Illinois and completed a general surgery residency at the University of California San Diego. He also did a 2-year research fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital concurrent with a Master's in Clinical and Translational Research at Harvard Medical School. At Indiana University, Dr. Hassanein has a laboratory focused on novel, gene-based strategies to manage lymphedema.
