Denne protokollen beskriver bruk av kombinerte nær-infrarødt fluorescerende (NIRF) bildebehandling og mikro-computertomografi (microCT) for å visualisere cerebral tromboemboli. Denne teknikken tillater kvantifisering av trombe byrde og evolusjon. Den NIRF avbildningsteknikk visualiserer fluorescensmerkede trombe i utskåret hjernen, mens microCT teknikken visualiserer trombe inne levende dyr med gullnanopartikler.
