Bacillus anthracis ist der obligatorische Erreger der tödlichen Inhalations-Milzbrand, so dass Studien über seine Gene und Proteine streng reguliert sind. Ein alternativer Ansatz ist es, orthologe Gene zu untersuchen. Wir beschreiben biophysikochemische Studien eines B. anthracis ortholog in B. cereus , bc1531, die minimale experimentelle Ausrüstung erfordern und keine ernsthaften Sicherheitsbedenken haben.
