Vetweefsel (AT) is een site van intense immuun cel activatie en interactie. Vrijwel alle cellen van het immuunsysteem aanwezig zijn in AT en hun verhoudingen worden veranderd door obesitas. Goede isolatie, kwantificering en karakterisering van AT immuuncelpopulaties zijn van cruciaal belang voor het begrijpen van hun rol in immunometabolic ziekte.
