Twee technieken voor het isoleren van cellulaire lipide druppeltjes uit 1) gistcellen en 2) humane placenta worden gepresenteerd. De kern van beide procedures is dichtheidsgradiëntcentrifugatie, waar de resulterende drijvende laag met de druppeltjes gemakkelijk kan worden gevisualiseerd door oog, gewonnen, en gekwantificeerd door Western Blot analyse voor zuiverheid.
