Minderjarige werknemers van de mier soorten Colobopsis explodens worden ontleed om te isoleren van de inhoud van de wasachtige opgeslagen in hun hypertrophied mandibulaire klier reservoirs voor latere oplosmiddel-extractie en analyse met gaschromatografie-massaspectrometrie. De aantekening en de identificatie van vluchtige bestanddelen met behulp van de open-source software MetaboliteDetector wordt ook beschreven.
