Das Ziel des Thiobarbitursäure-Reaktivsubstanz-Assays ist es, oxidativen Stress in biologischen Proben zu bewerten, indem die Produktion von Lipidperoxidationsprodukten, hauptsächlich Malondialdehyd, unter Verwendung der Spektrophotometrie der sichtbaren Wellenlänge bei 532 nm gemessen wird. Die hier beschriebene Methode kann auf menschliches Serum, Zelllysate und Lipoproteine niedriger Dichte angewendet werden.
