En protokoll for behandling av unge voksne og aldrende gerbil cochlea ved å immunmerke de afferent synaptiske strukturer og hårceller, slukke autofluorescence i alderen vev, dissekere og estimere lengden på cochlea, og kvantifisere synapsene i bildestakker oppnådd med konfokal avbildning presenteres.
