Das orthotope Nierentransplantationsmodell der Ratte trägt dazu bei, den Mechanismus der renalen Allotransplantatabstoßung zu untersuchen. Das aktuelle Modell erhöht das Überleben der Empfänger ohne Beeinträchtigung der Blutversorgung und venösen Reflux des Unterkörpers unter Verwendung einer End-to-End-Anastomose der Nierenimplantation und einer End-to-Side-"Tunnel" -Methode der Harnleiter-Blasen-Anastomose.
