While as a PhD student he was working on the synthesis and characterization of novel sensor materials, he decided to focus on sensor application environmental monitoring afterwards. As a post-doctoral fellow (2013-2018) he used optical sensors to study chemical dynamics in marine/aquatic habitats. In 2018 he joined Aarhus University as an Assistant Professor and received the danish starting grant (DFF Sapere Aude). He works within the Aarhus University Center for Water Technology (WATEC) and focuses on developing and applying sensors throughout the water cycle.
