David Nieuwenhuijse Viroscience ErasmusMC Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles David NieuwenhuijseMSc David Nieuwenhuijse is a Ph.D. candidate in the Viroscience department of the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherland. With his combined background in both Medical Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, he is looking to bridge the gap between biology and data science. He believes in a top-down approach and is mainly interested in the biological interpretation and visualization of complex data. During his Ph.D. David has been involved in piloting metagenomic sequencing of viruses in sewage samples to gain an unbiased and wide view of the viruses that circulate in a given population. His main activities have been to set up the experiment and data analysis workflows to process and visualize the complex data resulting from the experiment.
