He received his Pharmaceutical degree from Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra and his Ph.D. from Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.His domains of specialization are in the fields of the diagnosis, prognosis and minimal residual detection in haematological malignancies; primary immunodeficiencies diagnosis; evaluation of cellular immune responses; and immunophenotypic and functional characterization of CD34+ cells and mesenchymal stem cells. He also has expertise in Flow Cytometry.Artur Paiva has more than 100 published articles and his recent research activities and projects are in the earlier diagnosis of leukemia and healthy aging; in the characterization and identification of tumor infiltrating leukocytes in different types of cancer, and in the evaluation of immunosuppressive function of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells for immunotherapy purposes.
