Schistosoma mansoni eieren zijn krachtige stimulatoren van de T-helper type 2 (Th2) immuunrespons, kenmerk van parasitaire infecties, astma en allergische ontsteking. Dit protocol maakt gebruik van S. mansoni ei injectie om een CD4 Th2 cytokine-geïnduceerde ontstekingsreactie in de long, gekenmerkt door long granuloomvorming rond het ei, eosinofilie en macrofaag alternatieve activatie te genereren.
